Pieter CLOUWET (Antwerp 1606 - 1670) "The Duke of Newcastle mounts Pegasus" Original etching by a subject by Abraham de Diepembecke for the collection entitled "Methode et Invention Nouvelle de Dresser les Chevaux", forty-two plates with burin touch-ups published in the first edition by Jacques van Meurs in Antwerp in 1658. Beautiful copy printed on thin laid paper bearing a literal countermark "MT", complete with the imprint of the sheet and with margins of different sizes, with the usual central vertical fold of binding and various other folds and small defects on the edges, partially restored but overall in good general condition. Bibliography: Hartan "The History of the Illustrated Book" London 1991 p. 130 and 131.
